KNOWING THE WORD

THE WORD, THE SECRET, THE SUCCESS

Most times, when we are asked: what is the secret to a well fulfilled life? To many, the answer would be hard work, dedication or deep rooted into Christianity and or power of choice. The truth is that if there is one thing an average individual has almost unnoticed, it is the word of the mouth. Very many people are where they are today because of what they have said to themselves or what others said about them.

First thing to notice is that every human person is a product of what he speaks. You are defined by the outcome of what you speak. The ways you speak tell others about your academic status. The ways you speak also tell others about your personality. You will be lively and active if you speak positive words of life. On the other hand, you may be alive but living like a decorated corpse if you are the type that speaks or fill your life with negative words.
Psalm 34:12-13, “What man is he that desireth life, and loveth many days, that he may see good?  Keep thy tongue from evil and thy lips from speaking guile”.

Genesis 1: In the beginning God created the world. In verse 2, and God saw that the world (earth) was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. If God had not spoken may be things would have not change until in verse 3 when He said let there be light: and there was light. God had created you for his glory (Isaiah 43:7). He has also endowed you with dominance and authority (Genesis 1:26). He has also filled you with his peace (Roman 11:29). God has also empowered you to do greater things and God has remained your strength and power (II Samuel 22:33). That reminds me of John Lock when he said that man is born with an empty brain (Tabula Rasa). In other words, we are all born without knowledge, wisdom and sense, though the sense organs are there but without shape. Until such a person begins to create his life pattern, his world will continue to be empty. The only thing he needs at this point is the “word”. His world can only be designed by his words. People may play part in his life but he has everything at his disposal to start this journey.

Life is a magnet. Life attracts.  What you love is what is attracted to you. What you hate will be repelled from you. You can never get what you do not desire in life except otherwise. You associate with people of like minds because of what you mouth speak. Victors do not associate with losers. There is an imaginary line between success and failure. Success is light while failure is darkness, the two cannot meet. John 1:5 says “And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not”.

Life is a fabric; we decide how to structure it. Life is a choice; we choose how to live it. Life is a business; we decide how to trade it. Life is an opportunity: we decide how to maximize it. The power to be a success or failure therefore, solely lies within us. I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live (Deuteronomy 30:19).

Our world (life) has been built (created) by God; it is left for us to decide how to structure it. The very first thing we need is the word of Jesus. What is this word of God or who is this word of God. In facts, John 1:1-5 has the answer, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  All things were made by him; and without him was not anything made that was made.  In him was life; and the life was the light of men. John went further in Chapter 14 verse 6 to give us more explanation about the pronoun “Him” when Jesus said; I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.    The underlining facts about the above scriptures are that our words must be in line with God’s word.

God started with the word. As a matter of fact, your life is like an empty house, the choice to beautify that house depends on what we want the house to look like. You can start your world in a positive or negative note. The choice is all ours.

Basically, there are two sources of the Words that influence our words.

(1)      THE WORD OF GOD: Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him (Proverbs 30:5). For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer (Timothy 4:5). The word of God is life. Without the word of God we are left in the dark. This word of God can only be found in Jesus, see John 1:1, In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God … the same was in the beginning with God.  But the sad side of it is that many are yet to discover Jesus, the true word of life. He came unto his own, and his own received him not.  But as many as received him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:  That is why Jesus declared that “I am the way, truth and life”.

(2)      THE WORD OF SATAN: This type of word is destructive, accusing, deceptive and full of condemnation. Satan has nothing good for humans other than to destroy, steal and mislead through false teaching. In Job 2:4, And Satan answered the LORD, and said, Skin for skin, yea, all that a man hath will he give for his life (destroyer).  In I Chronicles 21:1, Satan stood up against Israel (Opponent), and provoked David to number Israel.  In Jude 1:9, the devil revealed himself as the accuser of the brethren when Angel Michael the archangel, contended with the devil over the body of Moses, did he not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, “The Lord rebuke thee.”  In Zechariah 3:1-3, he shewed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the LORD, and Satan standing at his right hand to resist him.  Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments, and stood before the angel.  In Genesis 3:1, the devil is described as subtle and cunning when he twisted the word of God. When he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?  When he knew that God said “do not”.
